Ecco invece come John Clark su U$ presenta la storia di Scarpa: “This issue features stories by two creators that fans just can’t seem to get enough of: Carl Barks and Romano Scarpa. (omissis) Romano Scarpa may have as many fans worldwide as Barks. He has, in fact, been referred to as “the italian Carl Barks”. Like Barks, Scarpa has created many of his own characters to add to the Disney pantheon, including the “romantic lead” of this edition’s “The Secret of Success”, Brigitta MacBridge. American readers of Barks (and Don Rosa) know that Scrooge’s “secret love” is Glittering Goldie from “Back to the Klondike”. But European readers of Scarpa have known for some time that it may also be Brigitta MacBridge. Her first appearance was in Scarpa’s 1960 tale “The Last Balaboo”, which was reprinted in English in Gladstone’s Uncle Scrooge 242 in 1990. She was introduced as a “long-time acquaintance” of Scrooge’s, but also as someone who had a romantic interest in the old duck. It’s interesting to note that Barks himself took an interest in the character and once sent Scarpa a sketch of Brigitta trying to entice Scrooge with money-scented perfume. (omissis)”.
