In English / THE ADVENTURES OF GYRO!
« il: Martedė 1 Ott 2013, 01:36:41 »
Hello;

I'm a fan of Poland and made this fan fiction Disney Ducks story some time ago. I would like to share it with you and hear your opinions, since Italy has some of the most devoted Duck-fans out there. I made the script and the art and it center on character of Gyro. I'm planing to make another one soon.

Please note :
It's a very dark and twisted parody of the Ducks world. Not a serious adaptation ;)

The story is in English and you can read it here :

ENJOY!!! :)

Yours
Maik of Poland ;)

I mean Goldie was shown by Barks as an old and proud duck lady, combative and determinated. Scarpa show us a humble and resigned Goldie, trembling with fear in front of her kapō in the hospice where she lives. She becomes again as she was before just after Scrooge decided to adopt her niece Paperetta and to buy the hospice (making her as director). But, at the end of the story, talking with Brigitta (that knows the special relationship between the two old ducks), she said to be too old for Scrooge, let her free to love him.
All these things (strong enough) could be not well accepted by Egmont's riders, after Don Rosa' stories too in the following years.

Wow! Some interesting info :) THANKS!

I still hoping to read this story one day in Polish or English since I don't speak Italian :(

I think both Paperetta and Goldie deserve to be use more in curent stories since they are both fun and interesting character and while I understand why Goldie use is very rare (It's tricky to have her around since she donsen't live in Duckburg) I would love to see more Paperetta in current stories hanging around with HD&L or working as the local photo-reporter which was the way I was introduce to the chracter...

Hello

I'm a fan from Poland and I always wanted to read this story since it appears very interesting (Goldie meets Brigitta!) plus I love Scarpas character of Paperetta Yč-Yč...

However unlike many great Romano Scarpa stories this one  was NEVER publish outside of Itally. Can somebody here explain what's the reason behind it?

Hello. My name is Maciek, I'm new here and forgive me my english but I'm a fan from Poland and I don't speak Italian very well :(

I just like to say - this story came out this year in Poland and I enjoy it a lot. However the plot is very similar to Vicar story -  http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=D+2002-076
but I like how they put irony in Gladstones life of being lucky. I wish he would endup with the girl from the office on the end... :(

Yes, the dialog in the Fantagraphic edition is 100% as in the oryginal

It's diffrent thing when their trying to censore something new but I  hate when they censore OLD stories.

I just got "Carl Barks's - The Old Castle's Secret"  from Fantagraphic books and I'm happy that they left the oryginal Africans in Barks "Darkest Africa".

(oryginal and Censored version :)

Yes, It's not a plesent image but trying to cut it is like acting such racist depiction of African people never existed and that's like trying to change history. For me those old stories are part of history. You don't change classical literature or movies just becose there is some non PC stuff in it...

Hello :)

I don't speak Italian but I read your discusion by internet translator and I agree - It would be a great idea to introduce some disable characters in Disney Duck/Mouse universe.

In my own opinion the disable characters work best when you don't focus on their disability but when you focus on their personality while their disability is just "something extra". Not the focuse of the story. I think it makes much more better job by showing disable people as part of the comunity rather then making big deal out of it.

Dear Mr. Rosa

Some time ago I drawn a dark fan-fiction story for myself center around our Duckburg friends with a very twisted version of Gyro in the main role... and now I translated it to english and put it on-line on my blog ;)

If you would find some time I would LOVE to hear your opinion and maybe some advices/tips (note that humor gets very dark, twisted and morbic and it has some dramatic moments as well... but than agian I heard a rumor that You once drawn a parody story about Gladstone Gander shoting himself in the game of russian rulette so I guess You enjoy this type of humor aswell... )

 Don Rosa :

>>>>Other times it is an Italian Duck character, for whom I have much respect but no experience. I will always draw such a character if the customer can supply me with some small reference image. (You see some here on this forum, eh?)

To be honest as far the "Unusual characters drawin by Don Rosa for the fans" go I've only seen two pictures of Brigitta by You (Which by the way look great! If I didn't know better I would asume You drawn her all the time  :) )

Anyway thank You for the awnser :)

(I just hope nobody ever said "Thank You Mr. Disney!" as he was geting the drawing...  ;) )

Ok, first thing first - I'm so happy about the New of Mr. Rosa's visit in Poland in October and looking on reaction on facebook I'm not the only one :)

We all hope You will like it here a lot :)

Citazione
I'd say he was more like 40 to have adult sons in 1880, so by 1947 he would be at least 107. And in "A Little Something Special" which took place in 1952, he would be at least 112. Amazing, isn't it?! It baffles science.

I always had a tiny problem with this one - Blackhearth being is such a great shape while technical being over a 100 years old... then agian I axpect plenty of duck stories by other artists that take place in modern times (2013 at this point) and yet Scrooge still clames he got his fortune when He was searching for gold during the great gold rush in Klondike which makes him 130 or something...

One thing that always made me wonder is the dates Scrooge mentioned in "A little something special" when he was hiting Blackhearth Beagle in the head. All the dates he say refrance the actuall stories exept for one... 1908, but since "Invader of the fort Duckburg" was set in 1902 and Scrooge mentiones that date as well I guess some Scrooge-Bealge clash happend at that point... Very  mysterious...

BTW -> I have a question Mr. Rosa - When Your on conventions and make drawings for the fans, how often people ask You to drawn character that You don't use in Your stories? (Fethry, Brigitta, Rockerduck, Goofy... or maybe even characters like Paperetta, Goldie's granddouther from Romano Scarpa stories or Lunchpad from DuckTales ) I wonder do You take the request like that and what where the most bizzare/obscure characters people ask You to drawn ;)

I'm sorry if I'm asking a question somebody ask already beafore but it's very hard to read every single post here...
