= 1. Don Rosa a Torino =

Lo scorso aprile si è tenuta la ormai affermatissima
manifestazione fumettistica Torino Comics
(http://www.torinocomics.com).
Tra stand, mostre (una delle quali intitolata "Carl Barks'
American Covers", per la visione di molte delle copertine
statunitensi vi rimandiamo all’ottimo sito
http://www.eega.net/covers/extra.html) e ospiti illustri c'era
anche Don Rosa, biografo ufficiale di Zio Paperone.
L’artista americano, oltre a disegnare e firmare autografi per i
numerosi fans con una disponibilita’ sorprendente per quanti non
lo conoscevano, ha partecipato a due tavole rotonde con altri
autori disneyani quali Luciano Gatto, Valerio Held, Bruno Sarda e
Giorgio Figus, coadiuvati dagli esperti del settore come Alberto
Becattini, Luca Boschi, Lidia Cannatella e Gianfranco Goria.

= 2. Anticipazioni su “I Maestri Disney” =
==========================================
Esce in questi giorni un nuovo volume dell’interessantissima
collana “I Maestri Disney”, dedicato al grande Romano Scarpa.
Il quarto numero dedicato al Maestro veneziano spicca subito per
l'inedita copertina realizzata appositamente dell’autore ed
ispirata a "Topolino e la banda dello sternuto", storia a strisce
presente in apertura di questo volume e adeguatamente rimontata.
Un altro inedito è la versione italiana della storia "Mickey
Mouse - A quiet day at the beach" (dettagli disponibili su
http://coa.duckburg.dk/coa/c1/story.php/5/D+E+2000-003/), una
storia sperimentale priva di dialoghi nelle prime nove tavole e
disegnata da Scarpa per la Egmont nel 2001.
Se qualcuno di voi avra’ una sensazione di deja-vu nel leggerla,
e’ perche’ aclune tavole sono gia’ apparse sul libro “Sognando la
Calidornia”

Un grande ritorno e’ dato invece da "I sette nani e l'anello di
Betulla", mai più ristampata in pubblicazioni da edicola dalla
sua prima uscita nel 1960. L'episodio va ricordato per la prima e
unica apparizione di Zenzero, l'ottavo nano.

= 4. In edicola =

E' arrivato in edicola il 18 aprile X-Mickey un nuovo mensile
Disney. Stesso formato di MM e PK ma atmosfera horror inconsueta
per Topolino. Il nostro eroe, pur rimanendo a Topolinia con i
personaggi a noi conosciuti, e’attorniato anche da nuovi
comprimari facenti parte di una dimensione parallela dove sono di
casa mostri, fantasmi e lupi mannari come Pipwolf, copia horror
di Pippo.
La prima storia, "Nello specchio", che dà il titolo al primo
numero, e’ scritta da Bruno Enna e disegnata da un ottimo
Alessandro Perina. Alessio Coppola disegna invece un'altra
divertente storia sempre all'insegna del mistero, "Cartoline da
Mostropoli", anche questa di Enna.
Oltre a questo potete trovare in edicola un altro bel volumetto:
TopoSpot, ovvero tante storie sulla pubblicita’ televisiva. Tra
le migliori storie presenti, uno dei capolavori del “solito”
Romano Scarpa, "Topolino e il gigante della pubblicita’"
(http://coa.duckburg.dk/coa/c1/story.php/5/I+TL++307-A/), ma
anche i divertentissimi episodi sulla pubblicita’ disegnati dal
compianto Guido Scala e intitolati "Lo spot della settimana", che
molti lettori di Topolino ricorderanno come un appuntamento fisso
nel settimanale dal 1987 al 1988.
Un' altra raccolta di ottime storie e’ “Ciao, Pippo!” dedicato
allo strampalato amico di Topolino, con avventure disegnate dai
migliori autori disneyani ed un quiz in appendice dedicato agli
esperti Disney D.O.C.!

a Walt Kelly, noto nel mondo del fumetto soprattutto per l’aver
creato la striscia Pogo, ma che ha realizzato anche molti lavori

During last April there was the comics exhibition Torino Comics
(http://www.torinocomics.com).
There were comic shops, exhibitions (one of the most interesting
was "Carl Barks' American Covers", if you’re curious to see many
of those covers go to http://www.eega.net/covers/extra.html) and
famous guests, such as Don Rosa, official biographer of Uncle
Scrooge.
The American artist signed a lot of autographs for his many fans
and was the “special guest” in two meetings with other Disney
creators such as Luciano Gatto, Valerio Held, Bruno Sarda and
Giorgio Figus, together with many experts: Alberto Becattini,
Luca Boschi, Lidia Cannatella and Gianfranco Goria.

= 2. A new issue of “I Maestri Disney” =

Is now for sale a new issue of the interesting publication “I
Maestri Disney”, devoted to the great Romano Scarpa.
The fourth issue containing the venetian Maestro works is soon
worth of notice for its cover, a new drawing made from the author
and inspired to his story "Topolino e la banda dello sternuto", a
strip-story here reprinted with a new layout.
Another “new” story (for the Italian readers) is the Italian
version of "Mickey Mouse - A quiet day at the beach" (detailed
info can be found on

experimental story without dialogues on nine (out of ten) pages,
drawn by Scarpa for Egmont in 2001.

= 4. In newstands =

Since last 18th April there is a new publication in the Italian
newstands: X-Mickey a new monthly issue. It has the same format
of PK and MM, but with a new “horror” environment.
Mickey, who still lives in Mousetown with the usual characters,
is also surronded by new characters coming from a parallel
dimension where it is easy to find monsters, ghosts and other
weird creatures like "Pipwolf", the horror version of Goofy.
The first story "Nello specchio" (In the mirror), that also gives
the title to the whole issue, was written by Bruno Enna and drawn
by a good Alessandro Perina. Alessio Coppola is the author of
another short funny story in the same issue: "Cartoline da
Mostropoli" (Postcards from Monstercity), also written by Enna.
There is also another interesting pocket book: TopoSpot,
containing stories about advertising. Among the best ones there
is a story from Romano Scarpa, "Topolino e il gigante della
pubblicita’"

also some gags about Italian TV advertising made by Guido Scala:

Yet another interesting issue is "Ciao, Pippo!" devoted to
Mickey's funny friend with his adventures drawn by the most
relevant Disney artists; in the book there is also a quiz for the
ones who want to be real Disney expert!

found an interview to Walt Kelly at the URL

Kelly is well known in the world of comics mainly because of his
creation of Pogo, but he also made a lot of Disney works (see

The interview, recorded in 1969, will be on-line only to the 15th
of May.
