And it was BETTER than the material that was being produced by Gold Key for the disinterested American audience -- Disney was hiring the better (higher paid) writers and artists. So starting in the late 60's and into the 70's you Europeans were seeing (what I assume were) excellent American-produced Duck comics, ones that we IN America have never seen to this day!
About the underline part, i assure you that these stories, even if they was a little better than Gold Kay stories, the plots wasn't so interesting, in fact they was always filler, in italian comic books.
Someting pretty, but no more. The most of was very simple and sometimes incoherent stories.
But is true that the draw was by good artists of the period.
However, Magica's grandmother isn’t the only character created by this division: first of all, Fethry, obviusly, then, consequently, Hard Haid Moe and Houn' Dawg (his dog). There is also Tabby, Donald's cat, that also belong to Fetry's cycle stories.
Then other character that aren’t famous like Fethry, but, when the story was published, was a pleasant novelty: Belle Quack, an old love of Scrooge (yes, incredible, huh?), Melody, Minnie's niece and 0.0. Duck, a clumsy detective that remember Sherlock Holmes for the clothes, and James Bond for the equipment (was created in 1966, remember, James Bond was very popular). About this character, there is an anecdote: in 1966 in Italy was published a story called
Paperino missione Bob Fingher (Donald Duck in: mission Bob Fingher), a parody of James Bod film's "Goldfinger". George Sherman, boss of "Disney Studio" department appreciated this story, and asked to Kinney/Hubbard of develop this theme.
All this character in Brazil was very appreciated, in fact brazilian created new stories with them.
All this character, a part Melody, was created by Kinney/Hubbard.
I don’t remember other new character, i think they are all.
