Wow. That was a lot of translating. And all done very well, in perfect English. And I know that's a lot of work. Thanks! But I hope no one feels an obligation to now translate all that into Italian! Please, don't think I will be annoyed if that isn't done! Too much work!
But there's this part: "[Some absolutist negative stuff about your tendency for background gags and high panel-per-page count without any laid-out rational]". Why did you skip translating that? Because it's negative? I never mind seeing negative comments about my work. I don't hafta agree with them, no more than I agree with all those POSITIVE comments. I mean, I don't really think I'm doing all that high-falutin' stuff in my comucs. Or... well, maybe I am, but subconciously?
I have a number of Finnish dissertations about my works, but no others. This is the first I've heard that there have been dissertations on me in Germany or anywhere else. I don't know about such things -- is it possible to go to some source and order copies of student's PHD dissertations? Even if I can't read 'em, they sure would be fun to have lined up on a shelf! "Yes, ehem, those are all doctorate dissertations based on my work, don't you know. Quite so, quite so. Hm? What? Have I read them all? Oh, no, I'm too stupid."
That reminds me -- when I received the box of ten or so copies of "DON ROSA - A LITTLE SOMETHING SPECIAL" (and thanks for those!), I unpacked them and the stacks were sitting on a table in the foyer. Later a repairman, a plumber or something, was making a call, walking through the foyer, and spotted the big stacks of books with the giant "DON ROSA" on the covers. And he said, "Oh, you're an author?" And I said, "Oh, no -- those are not books that *I* wrote. Those are all books written *about me*!" That was fun to say that!
